As part of our topic ‘What’s through your window?’ we have been looking at our local area of Stannington and comparing it with the City Centre of Sheffield. We have looked at human and physical features and thought about the similarities and differences between the two places. Both places have lots of shops but in Stannington they are mostly food shops and cafes whilst the City Centre has lots of different types of shops such as clothes shops, travel agents, opticians and most importantly ‘the bath bomb shop’ (Lush)
The children noticed Sheffield had many tall buildings and there were less houses. Stannington had ‘shorter’ buildings but had lots of different types of houses. Stannington had more trees and green areas than the City Centre. We loved visting both places and exploring where we live.
