The Year 1 trip to the Tropical Butterfly House was an enjoyable experience and opportunity to support our work in science and geography. The visit included opportunities to handle some animals such as a stick insect, cockroach and a snake. We found out information about lots of different minibeasts, their habitats and how to take care of animals. We found out about the 4 layers of the rainforest and which animals lived there. The Butterfly House was hot and humid so the children could get a feel for what it can be like in a rainforest. We will be continuing our work on rainforests for the Summer term so please take a look at the knowledge builder on Google classroom.
