The children had so much fun during our Great Fire of London workshop in school today. It began by finding out the names of the significant people involved, including Samuel Pepys and Thomas Farriner. The children dressed up as these people and started to learn key dates and names.
The children then explored activities which helped them to think about what life was like in 1666. They used ink and feather quills to write their diary extracts and explored how houses were built from wood. They role played lots of activities including the bakery, fire fighting and how gunpowder was used to blow up some houses to stop the fire spreading!
In the afternoon the children continued to work well in their teams to help fight the fire. They helped to build a fire service of fire fighters and build the Great Fire of London monument.
