The Year 1 children had a brilliant time in a planetarium today!
We learnt lots of new facts:
- Solar means sun.
- There are dwarf planets. These are Pluto, Haumea, Makemake and Eris.
- There are 294 moons in our solar system.
- Mercury has zero moons. It is hot in the day and cold at night.
- Venus has zero moons and is always hot. It is 462 degrees and it has carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
- Earth has one moon.
- Mars has got two moons.
- Jupiter has 294 moons and it is the biggest planet.
- Jupiter has a Great Red Spot.
- 1023 earths would fit into Jupiter.
- Saturn has 146 moons and the rings are made from ice and dust.
- Uranus has 27 moons and it has the coldest temperature.
- Neptune has 14 moons.
- The sun is a star.
- There are 400 billion stars in the galaxy.
- Lunar is the name of our moon.
- Pluto is a dwarf planet.
